This project explores the design of an ultra-distance gravel cycling shoe built for the extreme demands of bikepacking races. Riders in events spanning 800–1,900 km face a constant compromise between pedalling efficiency and off-bike performance, often dealing with long hike-a-bike sections across rugged terrain. Existing options lack the durability for multi-day abuse and the comfort needed for extended walking. The goal is to create a shoe that delivers significantly improved durability and walkability—without sacrificing pedalling performance—capable of enduring 1,000+ km over 7–14 days while remaining comfortable both on and off the bike.
